Symptoms of Diabetes

If you are middle aged and gaining weight too fast and if there is a family history of Diabetes, be careful. Diabetes is round the corner.. Attend to it and switch to diet and exercise and consult a doctor. Excessive Thirst, Excessive urination, weakness and lose of weight, craving for food, are all classical symptoms of Diabetes. Intense itching in skin folds, and in private partsraises suspicion of diabetes. Intense itching in the ear probably is due to fungal infection is clue to diagnosis of Diabetes. Delayed healing of an ulcer may be hint.

Why does diabetes create these symptoms?

These symptoms occur because some or all of the glucose stays in the blood, and isn’t being used as fuel for energy. The body tries to reduce blood glucose levels by flushing the excess glucose out of the body in the urine.

Diagnosis of diabetes

Diagnosis of Diabetes is simple and straightforward. You have to test for blood sugar. fasting flood sugar: overnight fasting for 8 to 12 hours. Preferably 8 hours. The facing blood sample has top collected before 8 AM. Normal dinner. No exercise.

Fasting blood sugar 70 to 100 mgs/dl.HbA1c less than 5.7%. Normal

From 100 to 125 mgs/dl; Hba1c 5.7% 6.4% you area candidate for Diabetes.

126 mgs/dl and above is Diabetes.

After food -2 hours after- up to 140mgs/dl is normal; above that and up to 199 you are likely to become Diabetic Above 200mgs/dl you are diabetic. Any time value above 200 mgs/dl and if you have symptoms such as intense thirst or excessive urination is considered Diabetes. HBA1C above 6.5 % is diabetes.
